How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend time with my family. I have two young kids, Ryan and Maddie. My husband, Jake, and I try to get them out of the house as much as possible! We like to go to the zoo and to the park. I love spending time outdoors. I like to be on the water or on a mountain. I like to ski, boat, swim, and run my dog, Kobe. I am also a Husker fan and like getting to games a couple of times a year.
What is your favorite type of music?
Country! But, I grew up a dancer and appreciate most kinds of music. I listen to pop music from the 90s and 2000s sometimes as well.
What inspired you to become a doctor?
I have always had a calling to want to help people. If I wouldn’t have went into medicine, I would have become a teacher. Growing up, I was never an “early riser,” but in medical school, I had fun helping with deliveries at 2 am. You know you are in the right line of work when you are happy doing what you are doing, even at 2 am!
Who do you most admire and why?
My parents and my husband. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today, or be able to do the job that I love. My parents have both worked very hard, and always made family life a priority. I try to do the same for my kids as well, but couldn’t do it without my husband, who is always there without question when I’m called out for one reason or another.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
If life throws you lemons, make lemonade.
Where is the most beautiful place you’ve ever been?
This is hard. I like to travel. The most beautiful would be between Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica (I like beaches!).
What is your most vivid childhood memory?
Growing up, we went snow-skiing every winter. When I was about 8 or 9, my 7 year old brother and I went off on our own tracks, as my dad went down the harder stuff. Well, we saw a black diamond run called “Giant Steps,” a well-named run due to its very large moguls. We decided to try it. We ended up taking our skis off, throwing them down the mountain, sliding down to get them, sliding past the skis, climbing back up to them, and repeating until we were down the hill. My dad was down at the bottom of the hill, wondering who those funny kids were sliding down the hill. We still laugh about it from time to time.
Where were you born and raised?
Right here in Lincoln, NE
Why did you join the Gynecology & Fertility, P.C. team?
I am so excited to be a part of the Gynecology and Fertility team. I love the concept of women taking care of women. The doctors and staff are great. I am blessed to have this opportunity, so I can continue doing what I love to do.
What are you passionate about?
In my personal life, I am passionate about my family, exercising, and traveling. In my work life, I really enjoy taking care of women at all stages in their lives. I love the opportunity to delivery babies, every delivery is incredibly special. I like helping women achieve their health goals, whether it be achieving pregnancy after going through infertility, a weight loss goal, or helping them through gynecologic surgery.
